Baby!!

Wow it worked! I have tried a couple of times to sign in and for some reason I could not. I have exciting news to post. Most of you know that we are expecting!! We are going to have a little boy in July. July 12th is the due date but I don't think thoes are really accurate. Chris would like to have a birthday buddy on the 7th. We will see. We are excited and feel so blessed to be inviting this little baby in to our family. Grandma Kathy is very very excited as she has wanted to be a grandma for such a long time. She said she watched Grandma Adah with her grand-kids (rachel mandy wendy) and it looked like so much fun. Needless to say our baby will be spoiled. He moves a lot now and it is fun to feel him kick. We are still working on names but some of the ones we like are Ryan Patrick Wood, Evan Jacob Wood, Jack Allen Wood... it is hard to decide. All is going well so far and we pray that it continues that way!

Service

I just wanted to share something I learned at church. In relief society we had a lesson on Pres. Monson's recent conference talk which is about service. We talked about how doing service is a cure for depression. To loose your life for the Lord's sake can mean that you become less selfish/less focused on your wants and needs and that in helping others your needs are met as well. Not to be hard on ourselves by thinking we need to go out and serve the world but that serving your family counts. The 1st counselor in the relief society is the Stake presidents wife and she tearfully conveyed her feelings that she doesn't think her kids get to spend enough time with their dad. Then she testified that when we serve in our calling we are magnified and the sacrifices that we make while serving(like time with family) will be compensated for. but the thin I liked the most and, the whole lesson was great, was this: a sister said sometimes it may feel like we are too far spread with all the church meetings, visiting, activities not to mention all the other things you have going on in you life but if we just take the time to follow the programs of the church we will be blessed in our efforts. She told of one day it seemed like they had a hundred things going on and her daughter had a young women's volleyball game. She went to the game and the spirit was there. Heavenly father has prearranged so that if we go to the activities the spirit will be there to bless us. I thought that was a great message! Stephanie

Grandma Adah

There is a man Harold (Hal) Hawkins, a relative of Grandma's. I can't remember how they (we) are related. I'll have to find out. He lives in my stake he has a whole bunch of pictures of Grandma and her family. He emailed these pic. of Grandma and I thought I would shared them with you. Does anyone know who she is holding the one picture? maybe Susan? I'll share more pictures as I get them.

I recently got this AWESOME digital pressure cooker and have been thinking of what I can cook in it!!! I finally had this great idea to cook Grandpa's Traditional Potatoes, Spinach and Carrots! It was delish! And Dusty and Brackon enjoyed it too!!! I want to make it a tradition in our family! I don't know how often, but to at least cook it! :)

California

Brady and I took a vacation to California Huntington Beach. We went out there for a wedding and then stayed with Brady's aunt for a week. I Love Vacation! It was so nice to sit in the sun, play in the ocean, ect. These are some photos from the trip We went to Sea World for a day. The dolphins were amazing. They can jump so high! They swim so fast that it was hard for us to take pictures of them.
This is a beluga whale. It was so cool to see the animals up close.
And of course Shamu! Killer whales are so big. It was so exciting to see them.

Grandma Adah's Enchilada Sauce

This is the best!!!
1 48oz can of Tomato sauce
1-2 Bell peppers
Onion
1 14oz can of enchilada sauce
Flour to thicken

Saute the pepper and onion with butter in large/tall sauce pan.(makes a lot of sauce and it freezes well too) Add the sauces and simmer about 30min. Don't forget the flour to thicken it!

Best if served with quick enchiladas: just fry up some corn tortillas in oil and grab meat chicken or hamburger cheese tomatoes any other thing you like to throw on it. stack it up tortilla on bottom fillings another tortilla for the top and smother with the sauce. It is very quick and delicious

Up Date Brady and Stephanie

So everything is going well for us. Brady is working at the jail still. He would love to be out on the road pulling people over and driving really fast with lights and sirens. However with unfulfilled promises from the sheriff that may not happen. Brady is under contract with Arapahoe County until July so if he is not out on the road by then He will likely be switching to a new agency. I am working at a store called Color Me Mine it is a paint your own pottery store which is just perfect for me! I get to load and unload kilns and help customers by giving them expert artistic advise. I Love it! We have been looking at houses recently. We found a few that we really liked. Now it is just a matter of money of course! So that is what is up with us. How is everyone else doing?

If ye are prepared, ye shall not fear...

I got this off of my sister in laws blog and she got it off of another web site...this is how it goes! Good Stuff!!!

Hi guys, I read this post on one of my favorite blogs "My Food Storage Deals" and wanted to include it on mine also. How Blessed we are to have had, and continue to have, Prophets on the earth today, to lead and guide us! Now, if we will only listen....

I was forwarded this email from a friend and I am posting it to my blog because there are simple and important reminders that each of us can use to help become better prepared. I have a cousin that lives near the path that hurricane Ike striked and her story sounds similar to this womans story. As of a few days ago they are STILL out of power, stores are nearly empty and without food storage and emergency preparedness items, life would be MUCH harder for their family as well. What an amazing blessing we have to know that if we listen to the counsel of the latter day prophet we will be blessed!

"Dear Friends: We have a 6'x6' hole in our roof, no electricity or running water, Trees down everywhere. How ever, because we listened to the counsel of our prophet we are prepared. In fact it seems to me that it's only the members of the church who seem to be calm, prepared, and helping one another with trees in roofs, flooding, etc. There is a POD or Point of Distribution in> Tomball where we live. There you get water and ice IF you have enough fuel to wait in the 3-hour lines. We don't have to do that because we have 3 full water barrels, 75 juice bottles filled with water, and our pool, which is dirty, but we use it to flush. It is very difficult to get gas. Police guard the stations when fuel is delivered and you might wait half a day to get up to the pump just to have them say, 'Too bad, we are out'. I am grateful that we have a generator. We run it 4 hours a day to keep our fridge and light. I am grateful that we have had fuel for it. You can't even by gas containers as they are rationed. We can only by bread once a week and limite d to 2 loaves at a time. Water is rationed by the case at the grocery store - 3 cases per family. The ATM machines do not have power. For the past 6 months I have stashed small bills away because I have had such a feeling of foreboding. We have >cash because of that. LISTEN TO THE SPIRIT. Get cash in small bills because the stores can't make change and credit and debit cards often don't work. I had to pay 5 dollars more for an item because they couldn't make change for me. and . . . PHONES ONLY WORK OCCASIONALY. Believe it or not...I have not had a bath in 4 days, Today was the first day I got to wash my hair with pool water. I haven't fixed my hair in a week!!! It just doesn't matter anymore. We cannot do laundry because we don't have water. So, we wear our clothes until they are literally disgusting. When we do finally get water we will have to boil it since it is contaminated.I am grateful for my parents. When we got low on generator fuel they drove 45 minutes to help us. They filled up their cans and brought us 10 gallons of fuel, which kept us going until this morning at 6:oo, am when we finally found some gas. A prepared Family and a loving extended family is the key to survival and making it through right now. I know that my parents would drive to the end of the earth to help me and it's nice knowing they are there. I know that I would do the same for my children. I want all of you to know that I have such a testimony of following the counsel of our living prophet. There really is safety and peace in your heart if you are prepared. Please get your generators, 5 gas cans full of gas, canned goods, baby items, baby wipes to bathe, and all the water you can store...even if you have to trip on it in your home. Have your lanterns, crank flashlights, tarps, rope, etc. ready to go because you never know when it will be your turn to endure the test. It's overwhelming, but it's going to be ok eventually. I have a> home, I have food, and I have water, because I listened to the counsel of the prophet. Please make sure you do the same. It's time to have your life in order. Tomorrow may be too late. "

Addresses

Hey I think it would be a great Idea if we could some how put everyone's address on the family website because people moving around all the time this would be a nice way to know where people are and we could drop them a note I am not sure how to do that create a link an address book something like that just a thought!
