Service

I just wanted to share something I learned at church. In relief society we had a lesson on Pres. Monson's recent conference talk which is about service. We talked about how doing service is a cure for depression. To loose your life for the Lord's sake can mean that you become less selfish/less focused on your wants and needs and that in helping others your needs are met as well. Not to be hard on ourselves by thinking we need to go out and serve the world but that serving your family counts. The 1st counselor in the relief society is the Stake presidents wife and she tearfully conveyed her feelings that she doesn't think her kids get to spend enough time with their dad. Then she testified that when we serve in our calling we are magnified and the sacrifices that we make while serving(like time with family) will be compensated for. but the thin I liked the most and, the whole lesson was great, was this: a sister said sometimes it may feel like we are too far spread with all the church meetings, visiting, activities not to mention all the other things you have going on in you life but if we just take the time to follow the programs of the church we will be blessed in our efforts. She told of one day it seemed like they had a hundred things going on and her daughter had a young women's volleyball game. She went to the game and the spirit was there. Heavenly father has prearranged so that if we go to the activities the spirit will be there to bless us. I thought that was a great message! Stephanie

Grandma Adah

There is a man Harold (Hal) Hawkins, a relative of Grandma's. I can't remember how they (we) are related. I'll have to find out. He lives in my stake he has a whole bunch of pictures of Grandma and her family. He emailed these pic. of Grandma and I thought I would shared them with you. Does anyone know who she is holding the one picture? maybe Susan? I'll share more pictures as I get them.

In Memory of Grandpa

I recently got this AWESOME digital pressure cooker and have been thinking of what I can cook in it!!! I finally had this great idea to cook Grandpa's Traditional Potatoes, Spinach and Carrots! It was delish! And Dusty and Brackon enjoyed it too!!! I want to make it a tradition in our family! I don't know how often, but to at least cook it! :)

As I was eating it, I thought it would be the perfect post for our blog!!!

California

Brady and I took a vacation to California Huntington Beach. We went out there for a wedding and then stayed with Brady's aunt for a week. I Love Vacation! It was so nice to sit in the sun, play in the ocean, ect. These are some photos from the trip We went to Sea World for a day. The dolphins were amazing. They can jump so high! They swim so fast that it was hard for us to take pictures of them.
This is a beluga whale. It was so cool to see the animals up close.
And of course Shamu! Killer whales are so big. It was so exciting to see them.

This is the peir at Huntington Beach

Grandma Adah's Enchilada Sauce

This is the best!!!
1 48oz can of Tomato sauce
1-2 Bell peppers
Onion
1 14oz can of enchilada sauce
Flour to thicken

Saute the pepper and onion with butter in large/tall sauce pan.(makes a lot of sauce and it freezes well too) Add the sauces and simmer about 30min. Don't forget the flour to thicken it!

Best if served with quick enchiladas: just fry up some corn tortillas in oil and grab meat chicken or hamburger cheese tomatoes any other thing you like to throw on it. stack it up tortilla on bottom fillings another tortilla for the top and smother with the sauce. It is very quick and delicious
